Privacy

The short version: we collect your email address if you give it to us, and we count visits to the site. That’s it. We don’t sell anything to anyone.

Who we are

Father's Shed is run from Australia. Questions about anything on this page go to thefathershed@gmail.com.

What we collect

If you join the waitlist

When you submit the form we record three things:

  • the email address you typed;
  • which page you signed up from — the coming-soon page, the blog index, or a specific post;
  • the date and time you signed up.

We don’t ask for your name, your children’s details, or anything else, and there’s no account to create.

If you just read the site

We use Google Analytics to count visits and see which pages people read. It sets cookies in your browser and tells us things like which country you’re in, roughly, and which site sent you here. We use it in aggregate — to know whether anyone is showing up — and we don’t try to work out who you are from it.

Our hosting provider also keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Why we collect it

The email address is so we can tell you when Father's Shed opens, and send you new writing if there is any. The analytics is so we know whether the thing we’re building is reaching anyone.

Who else sees it

We use a few services to run this, and your information passes through them:

  • Make.com — receives your waitlist signup and passes it to wherever we keep the list.
  • Google Analytics — receives site usage data.
  • Our hosting provider — serves the site and keeps server logs.

These providers process data on our behalf, and some of them store it outside Australia. We don’t sell your information, rent it, or hand it to anyone for their own marketing.

How long we keep it

Your email address stays on the waitlist until you ask us to remove it, or until it’s clear the list has served its purpose. Analytics data is kept for as long as Google’s default retention allows.

Getting off the list, or getting your data

Email thefathershed@gmail.com and ask — to see what we hold about you, to correct it, or to have it deleted. No reason needed and no hard feelings. Every email we send will also have an unsubscribe link.

To opt out of analytics specifically, most browsers let you block cookies, and Google publishes a browser opt-out add-on.

Children

Father's Shed is built for fathers, and this site is meant for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from children, and we don’t ask you for anything about yours. If you think a child has given us their details, email us and we’ll delete them.

Changes

When this changes we’ll update the date at the top of the page. If it changes in a way that matters, we’ll say so in an email rather than quietly editing it.
